THE VOLUNTEER PROJECT IN AFRICA - UGANDA
As a volunteer you will be able to take part in the activities of a Christian-Catholic confessional mission, in the rural area of Ntungamo which manages a reception center for girls in a state of vulnerability, an educational center for children and young people with moderate and severe physical and cognitive disabilities and a kindergarten dedicated to disadvantaged families.
As a volunteer you will be involved in the following areas of intervention:
LOCATION
The international volunteering project takes place in Uganda in a small village 150 km away from Kigali airport, where the volunteer will land. The village is located on the main artery that connects southern Uganda to the center of the countrand the capital Kampala. The territory is characterized by the presence of numerous lakes, rivers (the most important of which is the White Nile), equatorial forests and savannahs.
ARRIVAL AND TRAINING
You will arrive at Kigali International Airport, Rwandan airport, where a driver, appointed by the local partner, will transport you to the village. The duration of the taxi journey is around 4 hours.
Once you arrive on site, the coordinators will explain the various volunteer projects, the activities you are going to carry out and show you your accommodation.
BOARD AND LODGING
The volunteer will stay in the Guest House where several other volunteers participating in the activities are also accommodated. It is a house equipped with all comforts such as hot water, drinking water, showers, bed sheets, and towels. You will live in close contact with the missionaries so that you can closely observe and fully experience the life of a Franciscan Lay Missionary Community.
